Life throws some heavy stuff at you, right?
This morning, it is reported that some lives were lost during an accident involving a bus carrying students from Chavakali High School in Western Kenya.
One minute you’re reading about the joy of schools closing, the next you’re realizing everyone you know is, you know, mortal. (Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but hey, at least we’re all in this together?)
Here’s the thing: Dwelling on how fragile everything is can be a real disappointment. But completely ignoring it? Not great either.
Like, it is good to say goodbye every morning to your loved ones because, well, who knows if you’ll see each other again? Kind of dark, but it definitely makes you appreciate those little moments.
Speaking of moments, how about those random things that suddenly feel nostalgic?
Like, you’re just chilling and you think, “Man, I bet I’ll miss these boring Tuesdays later.”
Maybe it’s because deep down you know this whole life thing isn’t forever, so even the mundane stuff becomes precious.
And then there’s the gut punch: someone you love is gone. One day they’re cracking jokes, the next…silence. It’s a harsh reminder that life can change in a heartbeat.
So what do we do with all this? Well, for starters, let’s be kind. Like, ridiculously, overflowing-with-kindness kind. To ourselves, sure, but mostly to each other.
Because here’s the other thing I realized: new life is constantly popping up! Remember that feeling when you first held your child, that tiny human who literally wasn’t there a moment ago? Yeah, that.
Life is short, folks. So be kind, cherish the little things (even boring Tuesdays after Easter holiday), and maybe appreciate the fact that bananas, unlike your loved ones, probably won’t die unexpectedly during a family vacation.
Now go and spread kindness!
