Africa has long been touted as the next global economic frontier.
Abundant natural resources. Look at the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Forget the war. Look at the massive Congo River.
Plenty to be found.
The last sentence is actually a line from Kenya’s national anthem.
“Plenty be found within our borders”
Africa remains the biggest source of minerals such as diamonds, lithium, uranium, gold, vanadium, manganese, platinum and cobalt.
Africa has about half of the world’s gold reserves, a third of its diamonds and has a larger share of oil reserves.
With such vast natural resources, why are some of the countries rated amongst the poorest in the world? I got no answer.
African countries have experienced unprecedented growth during the past few years.
The economies will continue to grow faster than the economies of other continents with some countries identified among the fastest-growing economies in the world.
The population too.
Look at Tanzania and Nigeria. Their population is fastest growing across the world.
With such a huge population, why is Nigeria ranked amongst some of the poorest nations in the world? I mean, it is the largest oil producing nation in the world.
Those are some of the observations I will try to make on this blog.
And many more.
